A master is gone but will never be forgotten. Probably the most influential Flamenco guitarists ever to grace this earth, Paco de Lucia was an inspiration to generations of guitarists/musicians and not only in the genre of Flamenco. It would be hard to watch him play and not be moved and flawed by his style, technique and passion. His effortlessly fluid playing is something all musicians strive for and many don’t achieve. When I studied Flamenco in Spain I was told that “there is Paco de Lucia, and then there’s everyone else” which is a pretty huge statement. I don’t think there’d be a Flamenco guitarist on this planet that doesn’t owe at least some of their playing (if not most of it) to this fine musician. Here’s a great concert to watch and enjoy. Get comfortable, open a bottle of red and turn it up.
